Meditate With Me: Slow Down to Keep Going

I want to invite you to take a moment to slow down today. Slowing down for a moment, catching your breath, and closing your eyes. Give your nervous system a much-needed reset.

It’s impossible to be fully engaged in life, work, or family without taking small moments for yourself.

Let’s take a minute to find some inner calm right now.

Ready?

Put your hand on your heart and take three deep, intentional breaths. Allow yourself to feel the warmth of gratitude spreading through your body. Be grateful for this experience as you reflect on all the things you’ve been accomplishing this week. Remember that accomplishments are only possible when you allow yourself time to rest.

As you exhale, release the heaviness of the day. Imagine the things you’re worried about being blown away with each long sigh. Take your to-do list and set it aside as you honor your body for a couple more breaths.

Drop into a quiet moment and imagine your nervous system catching up. Think of the softness seeping into your body while you sink into this peaceful moment. Exhale again and envision what you’ll be breathing in next.

Maybe you’re craving rest; you can breathe that in now. Maybe you’re in need of solitude. With each intentional inhale, let your body know that you recognize the things it needs. Whatever your body is telling you is right. Remain in this moment just a little longer as you listen to yourself and pay attention to your needs.

Release one long final exhale.

How do you feel? You might feel refreshed, or maybe you’re experiencing anxiety as you’re coming back to all the tasks you need to do. Tell your mind that they can wait and they will be accomplished in due time. Know that any time you take to reset your mind and body - even if it’s only a minute or two - is time well spent.

Thanks for meditating with me.

With warmth and love,

Jill
